Ronneby - Blekinge

A warm welcome to Blekinge  -  a county characterised by pastoral idylls, an attractive smallness combined with a surprising variety, and lots of experiences. Our archipelago is second to none, distances are short between our friendly towns  - all of them inviting to leisurely strolls. Blekinge has plenty of titbits for those seeking some more unusual attractions to visit.

Beautiful and exciting scenery, awe-inspiring historical memorials, well-preserved towns from different epochs, lots and lots of sunshine every summer, boating, fishing and a wide range of summer festivals and popular events.

Blekinge is rich in contrasts. Our archipelago is truly fantastic, but so are our sparkling lakes and forest-covered hills.

Welcome to enjoy the Garden of Sweden!

The archipelago

Blekinge offers you Sweden's most southerly archipelago. This differs somewhat from the other Swedish archipelagos in its deciduous wooded rocky islands and the relatively short distance between the inner and the outer archipelago with its open sea.

The archipelago comprises innumerable charming sea bays and almost one thousand islands. Karlskrona can be described as being built on a series of coastal islands. The Karlshamn archipelago starts right outside the guest harbour. Ronneby connects up with the archipelago via the Ronneby river. Sölvesborg lies at the exact point where this island world is replaced by long sandy beaches. Olofström is the only municipality in Blekinge without a coastline and is proud of containing the largest lake, lake Halen, as a complement to the Blekinge archipelago.

Dining & Wining

Blekinge's gastronomic culture owes its very special character to the closeness to the sea, but is also open for influences from other culinary traditions. Blekinge has a wide choice of restaurants, from the more exclusive establishments to the more modest places which are kinder on the pocket.

Easy access to raw materials like vegetables, root-crops, berries, fresh meat and fish from one of Sweden's leading agricultural areas makes it understandable that most of Blekinge's restaurants favour menus based on local produce and tradition.

What's on in Blekinge

From early spring to the middle of winter there is a whole succession of popular festivals, cultural events and exhibitions in Blekinge, all year round.

Some are regular events -  or even traditions  - while others are more exceptional happenings. So, keep your eyes open for what's on while visiting Blekinge!
